A sickly Sudanese child is swarmed by flies during the day and mosquitoes at night. The solar mosquito mist system will create a no-fly zone for flying insects in populated areas, villages, schools churches and clinics.

Malaria Control International Objectives

Reduce the Burden of Malaria

Our objective is to distribute insecticide treated bed nets, (ITNs) to households, implement residual wall spraying (RWS) and apply a BASF larvicide to stagnant water around homes and villages. We will install solar powered mosquito mist systems at schools, clinics, churches and around highly populated areas in villages.

Building Responsible Communities

MCI believes in helping communities help themselves. We want to help people in impoverished communities to become responsible for their own lives. In keeping with this commitment, community volunteers will be trained in all aspects of malaria control. We will educate volunteers on the maintenance and installation of the mosquito mist systems. Volunteers will be trained to identify mosquito breeding areas for the application of larvicides, re-impregnating bed nets with insecticides and implementing residual wall spraying (RWS) using the Hudson hand held pump in the homes of each community.
